On September 2007, one of my friends at work forwarded me an article from a respected daily about Bhagat Singh, and one of his comments were “Did this kid (Bhagat Singh) knew what he was doing?”
The article was very poorly written by someone from the subcontinent, and it’s portrayal of Bhagat Singh was of a rebel without a cause, an extremist youth with no purpose, who just accidentally became a martyr in India’s independence struggle. Which is contrary to the fact that that he is a very intellectual individual (as clear from his prison diaries) who knew what he was doing.
So I started with the original article, changed it around a lot (likely you wont see the original anymore) and I wrote about what and why Bhagat Singh did what he believed.
I did take some liberty and try to fictionalize some details to make the story, so it flows.
This work is a compilation of what I’ve known, what I’ve read, what I’ve seen. I also referred to few sites like Wikipedia and other sites dedicated to Bhagat Singh’s life.
