Satinder Sartaaj’s Sai: The Song, Line by Line
Satinder Sartaaj’s Sai is not a song that yields itself all at once. It asks to be approached slowly—line by line, breath by breath—much the way Sufi poetry has always asked to be approached.
After five movements of context, lineage, method, and reflection, this final section does something deliberately different. It steps aside.
What follows is not an essay, not an argument, and not an interpretation imposed from above. It is the song itself – presented in full, line by line, in Gurmukhi, Roman Punjabi, and English, accompanied by brief Sufi and philosophical annotations meant only to illuminate, never to exhaust meaning.
This annotated translation is offered as a coda, not a conclusion.
A place where language slows down.
Where explanation loosens its grip.
Where the reader can sit with the text the way one sits with a prayer.
If the earlier parts traced how Sai came into being and what it leaves behind, this part allows the song to stand on its own feet to be read, returned to, and remembered.
